On Friday, December 6th, 2024, we commissioned the first phase of the 11 MW Oyo State Hybrid Independent Power Project, a hybrid power plant fully funded by Elektron Energy. This innovative facility integrates 1 MW of solar power, 10 MW of gas, and a 1 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), exemplifying our commitment to combining cutting-edge technology with sustainable energy solutions.
With Oyo State receiving an average of 80 MW from the national grid, this project will, upon completion, increase the state’s electricity supply by 14%,significantly reducing its energy deficit and unlocking new opportunities for growth.
We express our profound gratitude to His Excellency, Engr. Oluwaseyi Abiodun Makinde, Governor of Oyo State, and his administration for their visionary leadership and commitment to creating a ready market for innovative energy solutions. As the primary offtaker of this energy, Oyo State is setting an example of how states can leverage private investments to enhance infrastructure and improve the quality of life for their citizens.
